This is the foundational 40-hour family mediation training required to become an accredited mediator. This course begins with understanding conflict and the context of family separation and moves through understanding mediation, the process and steps, how to establish rapport and work with families, all the way through working in the legal system and how to develop your professional career. Lead trainer Jennifer Suzor has been rated as excellent in every training, and participants have said the course was “life-changing” and left them excited about a mediation career. Role plays with our excellent team of coaches round out the learning experience, as well as the supplemental readings that are provided via Dropbox. This is a thorough training that will equip you with all of the necessary skills to become a family mediator. It is an excellent starting point but can be taken after other courses such as Domestic Violence and Power Imbalances, Family Law or Family Relations. All of our courses are designed to be layered together for a deepened understanding, and all build upon the last.
