Description:
As artificial intelligence transforms professional practice, family mediators must strengthen the uniquely human skills that technology cannot replace. This trauma-informed, role-play-based course is designed to help participants develop advanced mediation skills grounded in empathy, effective communication, and practical problem-solving. Through a blend of asynchronous learning and live online instruction, participants learn from experienced mediators, skilled coaches, professional actors, and expert guest speakers in a highly interactive environment that supports both confidence and competence in practice.
Using recorded lectures, video demonstrations, realistic role plays, one-on-one coaching, and practical resources, participants build advanced skills in conflict analysis, managing challenging family issues, trauma-informed practice, ethical and legal considerations, drafting Mediation Summary Reports, and the effective use of AI in mediation. The course also provides guidance on client preparation, practice management, self-care, and the accreditation process with the Ontario Association of Family Mediation (OAFM) and Family Mediation Canada (FMC), helping participants enhance their professional readiness and meet certification requirements.
