About the Webinar

In this gathering, we will briefly introduce some of the multidisciplinary research informing Structured Reflective Practice (SRP®) and the Structured Reflective Instrument (SRI®)—an SRP® framework that Tzofnat designed and adapted to conflict situations. We will explore how reflective frameworks support the interplay between System 1 and System 2 thinking and transform habitual practice into intentional growth toward higher professional performance. Participants will practice several aspects of the framework.

Since mediators traditionally work independently, they are likely to reach a certain level of proficiency and plateau—the limits of their abilities—and continue practicing habitually without fully understanding what contributed to success or what went wrong. When challenges arise, there rarely is anyone to help unpack these experiences and support further growth.

Unlike traditional advice-driven debriefing methods, which rely on broad questions that research has found ineffective for developing expertise and peak performance, the SRI® employs goal-oriented, intensive cognitive reflection across four dimensions—three of which address the implicit social-psychological dynamics that often drive conflict. While ostensibly simple, the framework supports systematic learning and improvement through exploring hidden layers in conflict and a shift from asking “How good am I now?” to “How good can I become?”

About the Moderators

Dr. Tzofnat Peleg-Baker

Tzofnat Peleg-Baker

Tzofnat Peleg-Baker, PhD is an applied social psychologist specializing in improving decision-making and navigating implicit social-psychological dynamics in conflict and mediation. The Structured Reflective Practice (SRP®) models she designs, including the Structured Reflective Instrument (SRI®), support continuous improvement by helping professionals and parties reflectively reexamine their thinking and assumptions and reconsider their actions to create greater alignment between them.
These group-based reflective processes surface invisible social-psychological barriers to understanding and collaborative decision-making while generating alternatives. Her practice, teaching, and publications span dialogue, conflict engagement, negotiation, mediation, inclusive leadership, and restorative justice. She has trained and taught both within and beyond academia, including in the MBA program at Rutgers University. Tzofnat pioneered democratic and dialogic education programs, initiated and facilitated intergroup dialogue programs across the Middle East and Africa, and led ADR and restorative justice strategy for the Israeli Ministry of Justice. Currently, she coaches and trains professionals internationally and serves marginalized communities in Oregon as a community and family mediator and restorative justice practitioner.
