Dan Cantone is a Collaborative Family Law Attorney and Divorce Mediator in a suburb of Syracuse, New York. After spending over two decades litigating domestic relations cases, he became an enlightened ADR convert and now works solely outside of the litigation arena. In addition to practicing law (solo member of Cantone Law Firm, P.C.) and facilitative mediation (owner of Mediate West), Dan is an Adjunct Professor of Family Law Mediation & Collaborative Law at the Syracuse University College of Law, an instructor of undergraduate Public Justice courses at SUNY Oswego, and a faculty member of the Bachelor of Professional Studies degree/certificate curriculum at Syracuse University where he teaches online dispute resolution electives. Dan's mediation services include virtual long-distance facilitated settlements when spouses reside outside of the Syracuse, New York area. He is a founding Board member of the CNY Collaborative Family Law Professionals, Inc. (Past President); member of the Collaborative Law Association of the Rochester Area, Inc., NYS Council on Divorce Mediation, and the New York State Bar Association's dispute resolution section, and he serves as a pro bono arbitrator in the Syracuse City Court small claims division. Prior to admittance to the New York Bar, Dan received his J.D. and B.A. (cum laude) degrees from Syracuse University. He is a national and regional speaker on topics of Collaborative Practice, New York divorce and experiential legal eduction and is the coach for his alma mater's ABA Student Negotiation Competition team. Dan has also conducted trainings for many new professionals in the area of introductory Collaborative Practice.
