This 30-hour, fully online course is designed to teach family law fundamentals to students who are not legally trained.
It is not intended to be a summary of up-to-date family case law. This is a broad survey course that introduces learners to the statutes that apply to Ontario family law, and the principles of how case law is applied when interpreting those statutes.
The course is designed to answer the question: what does a family mediator, parenting coordinator or arbitrator need to know about family law to be able to know when to accept or decline a case, and to provide competent service on the files they accept?
