     9:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern

Organization Presenting the Program: INSIGHTful Mediation Training

Description:

In this 21-hour course we take a deep dive into the difficult subject of domestic violence and teach mediators how to screen for Power Imbalances and Domestic Violence. Training will help mediators enhance their intake process to provide a safe process for families and help them to determine when mediation or arbitration is or not appropriate; what screening tools and techniques to use for screening; and safeguards for CDR processes (mediation and collaborative). Screening for power imbalances and domestic violence is an important first step in all family law dispute resolution processes. Screening assists in determining whether the proposed process is appropriate, what the adaptations could or should be made to ensure a safe and comfortable environment, and whether a mediation or other CDR process should proceed or continue.

This course has been accredited by the Law Society of Ontario for 5 professionalism hours and 1 hour and 15 minutes of EDI hours.
