Description:

This course provides specialized training for parenting coordinators and family dispute resolution professionals who wish to develop the knowledge and skills required to conduct family arbitrations effectively, fairly, and in accordance with established legal and ethical standards. Participants gain a comprehensive understanding of arbitration law, natural justice, procedural fairness, screening for suitability and power imbalances, evidence, decision-making, and award writing. The program also explores best practices for designing arbitration processes, managing hearings, maintaining neutrality, and producing clear, enforceable decisions within the context of parenting coordination and broader family law disputes.
The course combines theoretical instruction with practical, skills-based learning through lectures, case studies, discussions, assessments, and experiential exercises. A strong emphasis is placed on real-world application, allowing participants to work through the full arbitration process, from intake and pre-hearing planning to conducting hearings, evaluating evidence, drafting decisions, and addressing post-award issues. By integrating legal principles with guided practice and feedback from experienced family law professionals, the program helps participants build confidence and competence in managing complex family conflict and resolving disputes through arbitration.
