An interactive, 40 hour professional training program utilizing simulations, coaching, lectures and demonstrations.

This training is designed for:

  • Attorneys
  • Judges
  • Business Professionals
  • Mental Health Professionals
  • Administrators

Expected Outcomes:

  • Develop and refine mediation techniques
  • Enhance constructive communication and negotiation skills
  • Explore the nature of conflict
  • Discover ways to handle emotions and interpersonal dynamics that can impede resolution
  • Develop effective skills for advocacy in mediation
  • Learn ways to establish and market a mediation practice
  • The material covered in the course will allow you to confidently serve as a mediator.

Participants learn a variety of mediation styles and techniques. From his experience as a mediator and a teacher Mr. Rosenberg has developed a dynamic, interesting and entertaining approach to facilitate learning. Participants experience the mediation process from initial contact through closure. In addition, they receive extensive practice sessions with the benefit of the observation and feedback of experienced practitioners.

Another interesting aspect of the course is the session on marketing. Many trainings leave participants wondering, “O.K., I’m a mediator; now what?” Mr. Rosenberg is uniquely qualified to answer that question.

Steven Rosenberg’s practice is exclusively mediation of civil and family law cases and related teaching and training. He is one of six individuals selected by the American Arbitration Association to develop and serve on their first Family Law Mediation Panel in the United States and an Approved Consultant for the Academy of Family Mediators. He is an Adjunct Professor for the Law School and MBA Program at The University of San Francisco teaching Mediation, Negotiation and Dispute Resolution. He was selected to provide mediation training for the United States Bankruptcy Court, the San Francisco Superior Court Probate Department, the San Mateo and Contra Costa County Bar Associations, Kaiser Permanente Employees and the California and U.S. Department of Education. He has also presented trainings for the Law School at the University of Buenos Aires, Association Argentina De Arbitraje Y Mediacion, and the U.S. Postal Service. He has lectured for the California Judicial Council, the California Judges Association and the State Bar of California.

The course is a complete 40 hour mediation training in two 20 hour blocks. Participants may take the complete course or just the first 20 hours. An extensive set of reference materials is provided and, after completing the full 40 hour course, participants receive a formal certificate of training.
