Business Description
My Child Advocate, P.A. is a Kansas-based family law, mediation, and dispute resolution practice founded by Trina Nudson, an attorney, licensed social worker, mediator, and Certified Divorce Coach® with more than two decades of experience helping families navigate divorce, separation, and co-parenting challenges.
The practice provides family law representation, mediation, case management, parenting coordination, and other dispute resolution services. While legal representation is focused on Kansas, Trina also offers virtual mediation and divorce coaching services to families nationwide, subject to applicable state requirements.
Trina's approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful resolution requires more than reaching an agreement. It requires helping people understand conflict, consider different perspectives, and make decisions that reflect what matters most to them and their children. Her work emphasizes not only resolving today's disagreements but also building the capacity to navigate future challenges differently.
Trina is also the founder of The Layne Project, an organization dedicated to transforming how families experience conflict. Through The Layne Project, she developed two innovative approaches that extend this philosophy beyond traditional legal and dispute resolution services.
BeH2O® is a structured, 16-week co-parenting program designed to help parents understand their role in conflict, shift perspectives, and develop healthier ways of engaging with one another. The program emphasizes personal growth, accountability, and meaningful behavioral change rather than simply managing disagreements.
BeAligned™ is an AI-guided reflection and communication tool designed to help parents pause before responding, explore what is driving their reactions, consider different perspectives—including their children's experiences—and identify more intentional, child-centered ways forward.
Although My Child Advocate and The Layne Project are distinct organizations, they share a common philosophy: resolving conflict matters, but helping people develop the capacity to approach conflict differently can create meaningful, lasting change for families.
